After announcing a partnership with American Express back in February, Twitter has officially launched its new advertising platform for small businesses.
The new advertising platform, called Promoted Products, consists of Promoted Accounts and Promoted Tweets.
Confused? Don’t worry.
Here’s a simple explanation:
Promoted Accounts: Twitter analyzes your small business’s current followers and searches for people with similar interests. Your small business is then recommended in the “Who to Follow” section.
Promoted Tweets: Twitter analyzes your content and promotes your best tweets within a potential follower’s Twitter stream. You pay when someone follows your account or engages with your tweet (@reply, retweet or selects as favorite).
Initially, Twitter’s Promoted Products will only be available to a small group of eligible American Express Cardmembers and merchants. If you’d like your small business to be considered for the new advertising platform, it’s not too late to register here.
Although AmEx and Twitter originally announced in February that the first 10,000 eligible American Express Cardmembers or merchants would receive $100 of free advertising, it isn’t clear from their latest announcement whether the offer is still available.
Let us know in the comments if you sign up and your small business gets the $100 of free advertising.
